Chapter 12

1 AND it came to pass when Rehoboam had established the kingdom and had strengthened himself, he forsook the law of the LORD, and all Israel with him.

2 And it came to pass that in the fifth year of King Rehoboam, Shishak king of Egypt came up against Jerusalem, because they had transgressed against the LORD,

3 With twelve hundred chariots and sixty thousand horsemen; and the people were without number that came with him out of Egypt; the Lubims, the Sukkiims and the Ethiopians.

4 And he took the fenced cities which pertained to Judah, and came to Jerusalem.

5 Then came Shemaiah the prophet to Rehoboam and to the princes of Judah that were gathered together at Jerusalem because of Shishak, and said unto them, Thus says the LORD: You have forsaken me, and therefore have I also left you in the hand of Shishak.

6 Whereupon the princes of Israel and the king humbled themselves; and they said, The LORD is righteous.

7 And when the LORD saw that they humbled themselves, the word of the LORD came to Shemaiah, saying, They have humbled themselves; therefore I will not destroy them, but I will grant them some deliverance; and my wrath shall not be poured out upon Jerusalem by the hand of Shishak.

8 Nevertheless they shall be his servants, that they may know my service, and the service of the kingdoms of the countries.

9 So Shishak king of Egypt came up against Jerusalem, and took away the treasures of the house of the LORD and the treasures of the king's house; he took all; he carried away also the shields of gold which Solomon had made.

10 Instead of which King Rehoboam made shields of brass, and committed them to the hands of the chief of the guard that kept the entrance of the king's house.

11 And when the king entered into the house of the LORD, the guard came and fetched them, and brought them again into the guard chamber.

12 And when he humbled himself, the wrath of the LORD turned from him, that he would not destroy him altogether; and also in Judah things went well.

13 So King Rehoboam strengthened himself in Jerusalem, and reigned; for Rehoboam was forty-one years old when he began to reign, and he reigned seventeen years in Jerusalem, the city which the LORD had chosen out of all the tribes of Israel to put his name there. And his mother's name was Naamah an Ammonitess.

14 And he did evil before the LORD, for he did not prepare his heart to worship the LORD and to seek him with all his heart.

15 Now these are the acts of Rehoboam, first and last, to do evil before the LORD God of Israel. And there were wars between Rehoboam the son of Solomon and Jeroboam the son of Nebat continually.

16 And Rehoboam slept with his fathers, and was buried in the city of David; and Abijah his son reigned in his stead.

2 И за то, что израильтяне вероломно отступили от ГОСПОДА, на пятом году царствования Ровоама царь египетский Шишак напал на Иерусалим

3 с войском в тысячу двести колесниц, шестьдесят тысяч всадников и бесчисленными полчищами ливийцев, суккийцев и кушитов, что пришли с ним из Египта.

4 Царь египетский овладел укрепленными городами Иудеи и подступил к Иерусалиму.

5 Пророк Шемая пришел к Ровоаму и вождям Иудеи, которые собрались в Иерусалиме, спасаясь от Шишака, и сказал им: «Так говорит ГОСПОДЬ Бог: „Вы оставили Меня, потому и Я оставлю вас, предам вас в руки Шишака“».

6 Тогда вельможи израильские и царь, исполнившись смирения, сказали: «ГОСПОДЬ праведен!»

7 Увидел ГОСПОДЬ, что они покорились, и было Шемае такое слово ГОСПОДНЕ: «Они смирились. Я не уничтожу их, но совсем скоро дарую им спасение. Не изольется ярость Моя, не придет на Иерусалим погибель от руки Шишака.

8 Но они станут его слугами и тогда познают, что значит служить Мне и каково служить земным царствам».

9 Напал царь египетский Шишак на Иерусалим и захватил сокровища Храма ГОСПОДНЕГО и сокровища царского дворца. Всё захватил он, даже золотые щиты, сделанные Соломоном.

10 Вместо них царь Ровоам сделал щиты из меди и передал их начальникам стражи, которая охраняла вход в царский дворец.

11 Стражники несли их, когда царь шел в Храм ГОСПОДЕНЬ, а потом возвращали в комнату стражи.

12 Ровоам смирился пред Богом, и потому гнев ГОСПОДЕНЬ отступил от него и не погубил полностью. Было в Иудее не только худое, но и доброе.

13 Царь Ровоам утвердился в Иерусалиме и царствовал. В сорок один год он взошел на престол, семнадцать лет правил в Иерусалиме — в городе, который ГОСПОДЬ избрал из всех колен Израилевых, чтобы здесь имя Его было почитаемо. Мать Ровоама звали Наама; она была аммонитянкой.

14 Ровоам творил зло, потому что не искал всем сердцем ГОСПОДА.

15 Что до истории правления Ровоама, разве пророк Шемая и провидец Иддо не описали ее в своих повествованиях во всех подробностях при составлении родословной? Во все годы правления Ровоама между ним и царем Израиля Иеровоамом шли постоянные войны.

16 Отошел Ровоам к праотцам и был похоронен с отцами своими в Городе Давидовом. Вместо него воцарился его сын Авия.

2 И за то, что израильтяне вероломно отступили от ГОСПОДА, на пятом году царствования Ровоама царь египетский Шишак напал на Иерусалим

3 With twelve hundred chariots and sixty thousand horsemen; and the people were without number that came with him out of Egypt; the Lubims, the Sukkiims and the Ethiopians.

6 Whereupon the princes of Israel and the king humbled themselves; and they said, The LORD is righteous.

6 Тогда вельможи израильские и царь, исполнившись смирения, сказали: «ГОСПОДЬ праведен!»

7 And when the LORD saw that they humbled themselves, the word of the LORD came to Shemaiah, saying, They have humbled themselves; therefore I will not destroy them, but I will grant them some deliverance; and my wrath shall not be poured out upon Jerusalem by the hand of Shishak.

7 Увидел ГОСПОДЬ, что они покорились, и было Шемае такое слово ГОСПОДНЕ: «Они смирились. Я не уничтожу их, но совсем скоро дарую им спасение. Не изольется ярость Моя, не придет на Иерусалим погибель от руки Шишака.

8 Nevertheless they shall be his servants, that they may know my service, and the service of the kingdoms of the countries.

8 Но они станут его слугами и тогда познают, что значит служить Мне и каково служить земным царствам».

9 So Shishak king of Egypt came up against Jerusalem, and took away the treasures of the house of the LORD and the treasures of the king's house; he took all; he carried away also the shields of gold which Solomon had made.

9 Напал царь египетский Шишак на Иерусалим и захватил сокровища Храма ГОСПОДНЕГО и сокровища царского дворца. Всё захватил он, даже золотые щиты, сделанные Соломоном.

10 Instead of which King Rehoboam made shields of brass, and committed them to the hands of the chief of the guard that kept the entrance of the king's house.

10 Вместо них царь Ровоам сделал щиты из меди и передал их начальникам стражи, которая охраняла вход в царский дворец.

11 And when the king entered into the house of the LORD, the guard came and fetched them, and brought them again into the guard chamber.

11 Стражники несли их, когда царь шел в Храм ГОСПОДЕНЬ, а потом возвращали в комнату стражи.

12 And when he humbled himself, the wrath of the LORD turned from him, that he would not destroy him altogether; and also in Judah things went well.

12 Ровоам смирился пред Богом, и потому гнев ГОСПОДЕНЬ отступил от него и не погубил полностью. Было в Иудее не только худое, но и доброе.

13 So King Rehoboam strengthened himself in Jerusalem, and reigned; for Rehoboam was forty-one years old when he began to reign, and he reigned seventeen years in Jerusalem, the city which the LORD had chosen out of all the tribes of Israel to put his name there. And his mother's name was Naamah an Ammonitess.
